5 out of 5 stars Shiva Rea continues to impress - Matrix is wonderful!   September 10, 2010

This DVD is super Great!

I am relatively new to yoga but very fit and bought this DVD after using the Shiva Rea Beginners Flow DVD for several weeks (that DVD is wonderful too).

The matrix on this DVD is amazing, allowing you to piece together your own workout for each day. The only improvement I would make on the matrix is a 'total time' calculation. The workouts are super challenging but also easily modifiable for each individuals capability and comfort. I'm impressed with the cardio provided by flow yoga and continually impressed by Rea's workouts. After a one hour session I feel pleasantly fatigued. The next morning I will often feel some muscle ache depending on how hard I worked the day before. I am getting cardio and strength training in decent quantities with flow yoga.

This is a great investment for someone who can't spend alot on different yoga DVDs but wants variety throughout the week.

5 out of 5 stars Yoga for busy, stressed out people!   September 9, 2010

I received this DVD a week ago and have used it practically every day! I enjoy yoga but don't have the time (or, let's face it, the inclination) for a 45 or 90 minute practice. But, I can squeeze in 20 or 30 minutes each morning. And this DVD allows me to do just that. There are so many different sequences that I don't get bored AND I can choose the type of practice I feel my body needs (relaxing, lunar poses or fiery, energetic, solar poses).

There are 2 5-min meditations, 7 20-min yoga sessions, 1 7-min core session, 1 forward bend session (7-min?), and 1 5-min shavasana. You can make your own practice by combining 1 to all of these. For example, this morning I did a 37 minute practice- lunar meditation, 20 minute shanti session, 7 minute core, 5 minute shavasana.

I've been practicing yoga on and off (mostly off) for about 2 years and find this DVD to be challenging but do-able. And I've been somewhat sore after each practice. If you run around like crazy all day and barely have time for yourself, this is the yoga DVD for you.

4 out of 5 stars Yoga Flow   August 16, 2010

I've been practicing yoga regularly for about 3 years and have wanted to try Shiva Rea's DVD for a while. I'm in pretty good shape but was honestly intimidated by how flexible she is. I thought I might just be discouraged. However, I will say that the 20 minute segments are very doable. I usually do two segments for a total of a 40 minute workout, and it truly is a workout. I'm usually sweating after about 5 minutes.

My suggestion to anyone is to know your limits. There will always be a few difficult poses but just try to modify them to your ability. I read a review that somebody had hurt themselves and I can definitely see how that could happen. Just be careful and don't push beyond your edge. And I certainly wouldn't do this without having taken a few classes with a good instructor to correct your form and alignment.

Namaste.

Love Shiva, great dvd. Been doing yoga for a year and a half and still, this was a challenging dvd. I recommend only if you are looking for a challenging workout!
